Unlike simple photoresistors (LDRs) that react vaguely to light, the TEMT6000 is a specialized NPN phototransistor adapted to the spectral sensitivity of the human eye. This means it is excellent at judging “how bright” a room feels to a person. It ignores most infrared (IR) and UV noise, giving you a clean, accurate reading of visible light. It outputs an analog voltage: the brighter the light, the higher the voltage. It is tiny, low-power, and extremely easy to use for adding “auto-brightness” features to your projects.
